- Honda has revealed details of the better-equipped 2026 CR-V SUV.
- Rugged TrailSport trim makes its CR-V debut with std hybrid power.
- Entry-level CR-Vs upgraded to 9-inch screen and wireless charging.
Honda’s CR-V was the fifth-best-selling vehicle in America in 2024, a feat it managed without offering buyers a fashionable tough-looking trim. But that changes for 2026 because Honda is expanding its TrailSport branding to its most popular model.

TrailSport trim is already available on the Passport, but this year it makes its debut on the CR-V, though only the CR-V Hybrid. That makes this the first TrailSport to feature hybrid power, but we’re sure it won’t be the last because 30 percent of Hondas sold now feature some kind of electrical boost and that number is only going to grow.
A More Rugged Look, But Still Mostly City-Bound
As with previous TrailSport models the adventure-ready CR-V gets a raft of styling tweaks to make it look gnarlier, including lower bumper trims front and rear that resemble real off-road skid plates. There’s orange-tinged detailing on the badges, gloss black trim for the door handles, window trim and spoiler, plus the option of the Ash Green metallic paint from the Passport.
Trailsports also get Shark Gray 18-inch alloys with recessed valve stems to improve protection from rocks and branches when travelling off the beaten track, and come wrapped in Continental CrossContact ATR all-terrain tires. But unlike the similarly-badged Passport there’s no special suspension tune and no real skid plates because this TrailSport is less likely to be sent on a real adventure.
Under the hood is the same 204 hp (207 PS) twin-motor hybrid powertrain fitted to other CR-V Hybrids, but Honda didn’t forget to spice up the interior. It added a bunch of TrailSport logos on the headrests and rubber floor mats, and ambient lighting bathes the footwells overhead console and cupholders in a TrailSport-specific amber glow.
What Else is New for 2026?
Every single CR-V trim now comes with at least 9 inches of touchscreen (up from 7 inches on base cars), a wireless phone charger and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. But the Trailsport also gets a heated steering wheel and seats, a moonroof, a powered tailgate and the 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster that’s otherwise standard on EX-L trims and up.

The 2026 CR-V and TrailSport Hybrid land at Honda dealers this spring so we expect to hear how much they’ll cost in the next few weeks.
